Introduction: Love and Sexuality in Classical Persian Literature


In the introduction to this special section, Kamran Talattof explains the need to pay more scholarly attention to the issues of sexuality, particularly in the way they were presented in classical Persian literature. Providing some information about the state of scholarship on the topic, he argues that a better understanding of the problematics of such presentations may help the construction of a truly modern and progressive discourse on sexuality.
